Mr. Ebert began his appraisal career in 2002 after spending 30 years in big business
with companies like Xerox, Loral, Lockheed Martin. He held various positions
including Director and Vice President of Information Technology.
After passing the state test Mr. Ebert trained with three different appraisal groups.
His first group provided a wide range of good, solid, basic experience in single family
homes, condos and small 1-4 income units from Oxnard to 29 Palms and from
Palmdale to San Diego. Many of these had unique properties including mountain
homes, homes on golf courses and one completely circular home.
His second group expanded on his interest in gaining more experience with unique
homes and was located in the high desert were it seems like every home is unique,
well versus city water, sewer versus septic, 2.5 acre lot versus 7500 sq. ft.,
evaporation cooler versus A/C, dirt road verses paved, etc. It was certainly a different
environment from the LA county tract homes and further sharpened his skills beyond
that which would have been reached by just doing tract homes.
His third group focused on the upper end homes from $750,000 to over $1,000,000.
Including homes in Beverly Hills, “on the sand” properties along the coast,
restorations of old Craftsman homes, new builds and even a home designed by a
noted architect.
All of this experience helped when he upgraded from a Licensed to a Certified
Residential Appraiser in April of 2006. Mr. Ebert is the chief appraiser for FJE
Appraisal Group and has associations with several other appraisers for specialty and
overflow work.
